Are we thinking that we will never settle in to this stadium then? or is it just that people don't want us to because they dislike it themselves? How much more would you like the new stadium if we were in the top four right now?

There are a multitude of excuses to be used as to why we are having a poor season and this appears to be the top one for a lot of fans. But what happens if next year, after settling in and buying some better players in the summer, we become the team our fans want us to be? will it be accepted as our new home then?

is this the same david gold from last september?

@davidgold

There's absolutely no reason why we can't be playing in the champions league with in the next five years. dg

Everton and Leicester showed how you have to play against Man City.
We didn't get anywhere near the required intensity level.
Probably the worst thing is that we did exactly the same thing in the Cup game and rectified nothing.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread FT 0-4
To a certain extent I think this lack of intimidation applies as much to our players as opposition ones.
At UP any player not putting in an effort would be URGED to rectify that quick smart.
We were like training cones last night
No running off the ball , no closing down of space, no running to close down a player.
How many times did David Silva receive the ball , knock it off and then wander forward to receive it again. Without once being 5 yds from any of our players.
358 is the answer.
Think he went off as he was suffering from leather poisoning.

First minute get close and tackle the cunt. Or at least make him work to receive the ball.

The stadium is a neutral venue.

I don't think anyone is denying that City are a top team and they played well last night. In fact we should be thankful they took their foot off the gas after 60 minutes. But like some have said it's basic mistakes gifting the ball away and not putting in the effort. There were players just walking around last night when City had the ball and that's not good enough.

Ok Bournemouth and WBA got tonked 4-0 against them but Burnley only lost 2-1 in both their games against City, Sunderland lost 2-1, Southampton drew 1-1 and even Swansea and Hull only lost 3-1 and 3-0 respectively.

We have conceded 40 goals in 23 games. 7 more than Burnley, 12 more than Southampton, 14 more than Middlesboro, 2 more than Leicester and only Bournemouth, Swansea, Palace, Hull and Sunderland have conceded more and in Bournemouth, Palace and Sunderland's case it's only by he odd goal.

Yet it's been an issue since last season. Certainly the run in and the fact that we were scoring a lot of goals papered over the defensive cracks.

So yes Man City were very good but what is going on at the training ground to stop leaking silly goals?

Don't really get it when people's argument at the OS is that it does have an atmosphere.

I mean my lounge has a fucking superb atmosphere, but it doesn't make that a football ground either.

Oppo players hated having their backs slapped, abuse a foot away at the lovely compact UP. You'd have to have arms like Mr Tickle to slap any cunt on the back at the OS.

But Sold0, it always happened at UP....

well, apart from the fact that our record FA Cup defeat over 120 odd years came in the ONE game at the cesspit...so it never happened...

Ok Jim... you think the move to the Cesspit is nothing to do why we are getting absolutely Spanked... the stats over the last 100 odd years says otherwise....

WE HAVE NO HOME ADVANTAGE AT THIS HOLE... THE OPPO' LOVE COMING HERE AS THERE IS NO INTIMIDATION FACTOR ANY MORE... IT'S ALMOST A TRAINING SESSION FOR THEM...

Side of Ham yes I agree, our players were very poor against City & Arsenal. The ground/pitch doesn't give the ball away or miss a tackle, the players do!

Well compared to coming to Upton park yeah I reckon they think it's all their presents come at once.... it's a breeze for the oppo'... no home advantage for us at all...

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread FT 0-4
Man City on fire? I don't agree with that excuse. We made awful errors but more dissapointingly seemed with exception of Carroll and Antonio not to bother with basic things like closing down, man marking, running off the ball into space. The Feghoulo gets a great chance to cross and kicks it out for a goal kick. That for me is not good enough and those making excuses are pathetic.

stewie, thats a good point. Maybe its because they dont believe in themselves?
I man, the passing and movement tends to be very nervous and static when they meet better opponents. They actually look nervous most of the time on and off the ball

We were beaten last night by one of the best teams in the world that cost hundreds of millions and they were at their very best. No shame dg

Man City had the same problems we had when they moved to a huge new stadium, what did the Man City owners at that time do so they could step up the squad to match size of their stadium?

Agreed. You can't deny the superior man for man quality that a side like City have over us but you can match them for fitness and effort. Unfortunately we were no where near them with all 3. The latter two especially are something we have the capability of improving in training.

I don't think the players go in to these matches thinking they can't be bothered and aren't going to do much today, but there must be something in their mentality which makes their heads drop and concentration wander, sometimes even before the opposition have scored their first goal.

Ok they have world class players in every position, but what was disappointing was the huge difference in sharpness, speed and fitness . We are lagging behind in our training regime and it needs to change quickly.
If Bilic and his assistants don't have the capabilities to improve performance, then we can't push on.
